old colonial bar.... "Bar Cordano "

Crowded downtown Lima is surrounded by neighborhoods ranging from shantytowns to beachfront trendy cafes and shops. South of Lima long white beaches washed by the cold waters of the Southern Pacific, backed by rows of huge brilliant white sand dunes. These cliff backed beaches of Baranco and Costa Verde are one of the favorites haunt of surfers from all over..

Lima also boasts some of the best dining especially for fresh seafood.

Spanish colonial times are represented by their churches, government buildings and historic houses. The "Plaza de Armas" is the center of LIma city. In this historic heart stands the 17 Century bronze fountain. On the north side is the Government Palace completed in 1938. On its eastern side of the square is the Cathedral which was reconstructed many times due to earthquakes..

Opposite the Cathedral is the "Municiplidad de Lima " or town hall.

Our guide for that day took us to a very interesting mausoleum , "Monasterio de San Francisco" in centro Lima. - famous for its catacombs and remarkable library, where we can see thousands of antique texts dating back to the conquistadors...

The underground Catacombs are a site of some 70,000 burials filled with bones with skulls and femurs all arranged !!!

The building which is one of the best preserved of Lima's early colonial churches withstood both the 1687 and 1748 earthquakes. However the 1970 earthquake caused considerable damage. Much is restored in its original Baroque style with moorish influences.
